Hip hop is not the only violent music out there. But it is the one that portrays a life of crime, drugs, and violence as glamorous. The videos for hip hop music are even worse. They show the young people that by being a "thug" you can have "money, cars, clothes, and hoes". Add this with the failing public school system and you have a recipie for violence. if i have not been wrongfully informed or otherwise misguided, the only type of profiling that is considered illeagal or un-pc would be that of the "racially" motivated. The last time I looked all races were being influenced by the hip-hop wave. The topic of this discussion is not about other types of music, but that of hip-hop. I believe that not all people who listen to hip-hop will be negativly affected by its content. There are a few who will see the lifestlye of theese thugs portraied on television, believe they can do what theese thugs talk about and have they same kind of life. Does hip hop make somebody a criminal? No. But hip hop glorifies violent criminals, and that says a great deal about those who listen to it--that they have no respect for the law, and feel that violent crime is a glamorous lifestyle. And profiling is necessary. It isn't "racist" or any other PC-ist term. It's common sense. Mon Aug 22, 2005 6:54 am MST by rightwingprof
well first of all are you not profiling? since this is a law enforcement site i guess that is acceptable. do you think that people that listen to other types of music are violent. does hip hop music in itself make one commit violent crime? Sat Jul 23, 2005 7:55 pm MST by elam_doug@hotmail.com
